BIOGRAPHY

Deb Farrar-Parkman was once afraid to be funny. "I remember being a kid and watching Richard Pryor, Moms Mabley and George Carlin and laughing hysterically, yearning to do what they did, but I was too afraid to put myself out there like that.  Then I had an epiphany: that I’m 99.9 % more likely to die of a heart attack or cancer than I am of embarrassment, so I decided to give stand-up a try."

Touted by the Boston Globe as “one of the most consistently inventive performers” on the Boston comedy scene, Deb is witty and to the point.  A storyteller who pontificates on the circumstances that are her life, Deb has been featured in the Boston Comedy Festival’s “Best of Boston Comics” and has appeared on numerous radio programs including National Public Radio’s Commonwealth Journal.

She recently appeared in Girls Night Out in West Hartford CT’s Playhouse in the Park and last year at the New York Underground Comedy Festival. She is the founder and original producer of ColorStruck: Boston’s Women of Color in Comedy, which is entering its 12th year.

Deb has shared the stage with Tony V, Jimmy Tingle, Louis CK, Joe Wong, Dwayne Perkins and Karith Foster, among others. Featured in Boston Magazine’s Best in Boston Comedy edition of up and coming comedians in the area, Deb has performed before sold out crowds along the eastern seaboard as well as the Hollywood Improv.

Deb Farrar-Parkman is also an Emmy Award-winning freelance documentary producer.
